The more knowledge is shared, the more value we can generate. Lipotype participated in the DIPP school project, “Science goes to school” to share our expertise and knowledge accumulated over decades with young students. This project is initiated by PhD students from Dresden International PhD Program (DIPP) on a mission to spread the spirit of science being fun and multicultural mix being a great advantage.
Yesterday Lipotype joined the program and gave a “Lipid magic” session at the Vitzthum Gymnasium in Dresden. Maria Walesch and Jeongeun Chae demonstrated several small experiments where students can get hands-on experience with water/oil phase separation & emulsion, the principle of lipid extraction, the lipophilicity of carrot beta-carotene, and the role of lipids in the lotus effect, as well as explained the importance and applications of lipid analysis.
One of the students participated in this session said, “Hat mein Interesse an meinem Biologie Studium das ich Plane geweckt. (It has aroused my interest in my biology studies that I plan to do.)”
It is part of our mission to educate more people about how lipids affect our lives and what insights analyzing lipids can give us. We will continue to participate in the Science goes to school project to achieve this mission by providing young students with opportunities to experience and understand more about lipids. We are looking forward to meeting more future lipid enthusiasts in our next sessions!
