Sphingomyelin: The Sphinx of Lipids

Sphingolipids once puzzled scientists so deeply that they were named after the Sphinx, a creature from Greek mythology known for its enigmatic riddles. One important member of the sphingolipid class is sphingomyelin, which is far more than a structural membrane lipid.
