Lipotype For a Better World
As our motto, “Lipidomics for a better life” suggests, Lipotype helps improve people’s health by supporting scientists with our lipidomics technology. Another thing Lipotype is also passionate about is contributing to society by supporting organizations and initiatives that reflect the values our team considers important. As Lipotype continues to grow, we wanted to ensure every voice has a place at the table, so we created a democratic process for selecting the organizations we support as a team.
How Did Lipotype Select the Organizations to Support?
This is how the voting process went. First, Lipotype team members submitted non-profit organizations they cared about, which gave us a list of 15 candidates from diverse areas, including local sports clubs, mentorship for scientists, and a hub for freedom of information. Next, everyone at Lipotype got three votes to select three non-profit organizations they consider especially important.
The top three organizations were announced at our team meeting, along with a special fourth pick. This bonus organization was chosen to recognise the colleague who first came up with the idea.
Now, meet the four organizations selected in this year’s vote!
1. Förderverein Frauengesundheit e.V. (The Women’s Health Association)
Förderverein Frauengesundheit e.V. (The Women’s Health Association) is dedicated to promoting women’s health through research, prevention, education, and healthcare. Through concerts and events, the association brings people together, raises awareness, and funds projects with a meaningful, measurable impact on women’s lives. As a biotech company committed to advancing human health, supporting an organization with such a focused mission in women’s health felt like a natural fit for Lipotype.
How can lipidomics contribute to breast cancer studies?
Breast cancer phospholipid metabolism is a powerful target for novel therapies, especially against triple-negative breast cancer.

2. Ein Herz für Streuner (A Heart for Stray Animals)

Ein Herz für Streuner (A Heart for Stray Animals) is one of the largest animal welfare organizations in northern Romania. Since its founding, the organization has been dedicated to reducing stray animal suffering through rescue operations, population control, veterinary care, vaccinations, and community education, working to create lasting changes in local attitudes toward animal welfare. Their dedication to improving the lives of animals aligns with Lipotype’s own motto, ‘lipidomics for a better life’, for everyone. In fact, a few of our Lipotype colleagues have adopted their dogs from this organization, two of them pictured above – Klausi (left) and Luna (right)!
3. Aktion Zivilcourage (Civil Courage Campaign)
Aktion Zivilcourage (Civil Courage Campaign) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that has been working since 1998 to strengthen democratic culture, political education, and social cohesion. Founded in Pirna, Saxony, the organization has since grown to include offices in Sebnitz, Dresden, and Berlin, and operates nationwide, with a particular focus on structurally disadvantaged and rural regions of eastern Germany. With our own headquarters based in Dresden, supporting an organization rooted in the same region and supporting democratic values felt like a natural and meaningful choice.
4. Lunatics Cheerleader e.V.
Additionally, one more organization was selected: Lunatics Cheerleader e.V. It is a Cheerleading sports club in Dresden, enabling around 200 active athletes to compete in Germany’s Cheerleading Verband CCVD. This organization was submitted by a colleague who originally initiated the idea of getting the Lipotype team’s support. Lipotype wanted to acknowledge the ownership of this sponsorship, the courage, and the initiative of people who bring up ideas internally.
Our Values, Our Choice
While supporting organizations and campaigns has always been part of who we are, introducing a collective vote this time felt like something more. It reflected our shared values as a team and gave everyone a voice in how we show up in the world. We’re proud of the causes our colleagues selected, and we look forward to continuing to turn those values into action. Stay tuned for what’s next!
